Getting enough sleep (for at least seven to eight hours daily ) and not merely sleeping should be an important component of your skin care habits. Whether you have read studies or not, the link between good sleep and skin condition is obvious. Try sleeping just a few hours each night and you will soon feel and see negative changes in your complexion. Although depending on your stage of life and circumstances, getting enough sleep can be difficult, however, it is important to let your body rest and renew itself. It is during sleep that your skin repairs itself. So, turn off your devices and try to unplug from the world, and have a good night rest.
2. Stop junk food:
While the occasional junk food or fast food won’t hurt, a habit of eating this regularly could be damaging your health in many ways. We all know that too much junk food can cause weight gain, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
What you may not have thought too much about is that fast foods with heavy carbs like French fries or potato chips may cause acne. 3. Always Moisturize:
It is said that you should start pampering your skin when you hit puberty for the first time. But even if you didn’t care much at that time, it’s never too late. Who said that you couldn’t come back! First thing first, forget about any other skincare products and focus only on the moisturizers and sunscreen lotions. Day, night, before going out, and even before you sleep, moisturizers ensures that your exposed skin does not dry out due to loss in moisture. Moisturizing your skin as part of your regular skincare routine hydrates your skin and makes it glow.
4. Remove Make-up before Bed:
Women with beautifully flawless skin are diligent about removing their makeup, no matter how tired they may be. Sometimes it is tempting when you stay out late or fall asleep on the sofa watching a movie, to go to bed with your makeup on. This can harm your skin. Certain skin cells are supposed to be shed daily. If you leave your makeup on and don’t cleanse your face, these cells can stick to your skin. This could cause breakouts or even exacerbate fine lines on your face, many ladies have those nights where you were lazy or too tired to remove your make up. Please don’t turn that into a habit it’s not healthy and could damage your skin in the long run.
5. Stay stress free:
Stress can cause a bunch of different things to our bodies and skin. It could be that sleep deprivation is causing you to stress. I’ve had many nights where I get anxious about not being able to sleep. Alternatively, it could be that stress is causing you to lose sleep. I’ve also had many nights where I would stress about work, family or a project which caused me to become sleep deprived. 6. Knowing your Skin type:
Many of us don’t know their skin type. Ask yourself which type of skin do you have oily, dry, normal, or combination skin! If you don’t know the answer, read other articles related to the different types of skin, and understand the difference. It will help you to choose the best suitable cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen for your skin. As you don’t want to make the mistake of buying products that are too harsh or ineffective for your skin not only could it make your skin worse, but it’s just a waste of money.
Depending on your skin type, be it combination, oily or dry, remove the dead skin on your face by gently exfoliating with an exfoliant. It can come in a form of a peel or even a scrub. Cleansing and toning alone typically aren’t enough to slough off all the dead skin on your face. Regular exfoliation will help keep your pores from becoming clogged and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Exfoliating every day is not recommended because it can be too harsh on your skin. Exfoliate just once or twice a week after washing your face but before applying toner and moisturizer.
8. Always wear sunscreen:
Wearing sunscreen may be the single most important tip when it comes to protecting your skin. You must wear sunscreen every single day, even if you don’t think you’ll be outside or the weather is overcast. There is still sunlight getting through the clouds, streaming through your windows, and aging your face. This means turning it into a daily habit (including the wintertime and rainy days) to apply sunscreen on your face and any skin area that gets exposed to the sun.
Do not forget to always stay hydrated and exercise, and don’t give up on this routine, as it would take time to attain that glowing skin, that makes you stand-out.
